Crazy Heart

The best part about this movie is the soundtrack. Jeff Bridges' songs are what I consider good country music. His character was pure perfection. From his untucked, unbuttoned shirt to his consistently undone pants and belt, he was the perfect "Bad" Blake.

The main problem I had with this movie was Maggie Gyllenhaal (Jeanie). It wasn't her acting or her character. It was her relationship with Jeff Bridges. It was creepy, never endearing. First off as a "music journalist" she sucked. Being a journalist myself, allow me to rant for a minute. She was very unprofessional, she drank while interviewing, she sat on his bed while doing the interview and then, oh yeah, she slept with him. If Almost Famous has taught us nothing, we should NEVER befriend a person we're interviewing, and especially not become romantically involved with that person!

Second that guy could be her grandpa. Now, I know this is the age of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, but the two together is just creepy. It's never a positive thing when they get together, and, let's just say, luckily it ended on a happy note.

It was interesting how proud I became of Bad Blake. Even though he's "bad boy," he really gets his act together and it stays together even after facing severe rejection.

When Scenes:
WHEN Jeanie's son, Buddy, is taught how to score a touchdown with a paper football by Bad.
WHEN Robert Duvall (Wayne) takes Bad fishing.
WHEN Bad loses Buddy.
WHEN Bad's performing, goes off stage, throws up, and gets back on stage.
WHEN Maggie Gyllenhaal starts crying because Bad is writing a song on her bed.

QUICKIES

"I want to talk about how bad you make this room look. I never knew what a dump it was until you came in here."- Jeff Bridges (Bad Blake)

"Mr. Blake let me personally offer you all the free bowling you want."- Bowling alley owner

Fun Facts

T-Bone Burnett co-wrote "The Weary Kind" and also worked on Bridge's most famous film: The Big Lebowski.
