Yes, the devil who wears Prada will next play Britain's Prime Minister of the '80s, Margaret Thatcher. The film is called
The Iron Lady and will be released in the UK this year. It follows Thatcher in the events leading up to the Falklands War in 1982. Director Phyllida Lloyd has worked with Streep in the past when she directed
Mamma Mia! The most exciting member of the cast, in my opinion, is Anthony Head (Giles from
Buffy the Vampire Slayer) who will play
Geoffrey Howe, Thatcher's longest-serving Cabinet minister who held various posts. Jim Broadbent (Slughorn from Harry Potter 6) will play Streep's husband Denis Thatcher. No news yet on the US release date, but I'll be sure to keep you informed. What do you think of Meryl's new look? I think it's very Julie-&-Julia-esque.
