The father of the gum chewing girl with a resemblance to a blueberry passed away yesterday from cancer. Leonard Stone, whose most famous role was the father of Violet Beauregarde in the 1971 film, had also received a Tony nomination for his role in the musical
Redhead and had several appearances on TV shows over the years.
Despite these roles, I will always know him as the man who shouted, "Violet! You're turning violet, Violet!"
Stone passed away two days before his 88th birthday.
