Though it's been rumored for a while, Martin Freeman has signed on as the star of the new Hobbit film. “Despite the various rumors and speculation surrounding this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us,” director Peter Jackson said in a statement, calling Freeman “intelligent, funny, surprising, and brave — exactly like Bilbo.”
Freeman's played Tim in the British (and original) version of The Office. He's also been in Love Actually, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Hot Fuzz.
