Morgan Freeman wins AFI Lifetime Achievement Award

According to Variety and Entertainment Weekly, Morgan Freeman is winning the 39th annual American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Morgan Freeman is an American treasure,” Sir Howard Stringer, chair of the AFI Board of Trustees, said in a release. “Across decades, whether playing a prisoner, a president or God, he embodies a calm authority that demands respect for the character and for the art form. His gifts to the cultural record are also underscored by his unmistakable voice that echoes through the hearts and minds of movie lovers around the world.”

I would definitely agree. I mean, he played God. That's pretty much the highest you can go (I recognize this isn't entirely politically correct). He is the second African American actor to win the award (Sidney Poitier was the first in 1992). Just listen to his voice. He can next be seen on Friday in Red.
